Frequently Asked Questions

Explain your approach to wedding photography?
We have a relaxed and fun approach, while capturing the very essence of your celebrations. We are passionate about what we do and strive to capture the emotion of each wedding. Our aim is to provide you with unique images that are as individual as you and the special day you’ve planned. Your photographs are one of the few things that will remain once your wedding day is over.Part of the enjoyment of our work is to know that our customers are truly happy with the service we provide. We genuinely feel very privileged to be allowed to spend time with couples on their special day. We pride ourselves not only on understanding how special your day is, but also making sure our photography is relaxed and as much fun for you and your guests as possible
Why do you like photographing weddings?
It’s about the interaction with all the people. Wedding photography is one of the most demanding areas of photography. To us, photographing a wedding is not just another day at the office. We like to document as much detail as we can and tell the real story of your wedding day.
What is your photographic style?
Over the years we have developed our own style that’s a mixture of classical and modern (traditional and reportage). But we can cover most styles if you prefer something different. We feel it’s important to tell the story of your wedding through our pictures. All you need to do for most of the day is to act naturally and enjoy being the centre of attention.
We want something contemporary but our parents want some traditional posed photos too. Can you do both?
Yes… These types of pictures lend themselves perfectly to our style of photography.
How long are you at the wedding?
This depends on the coverage you choose. With what we call our full coverage, we only photograph one wedding per day and this can take 8 hours. This covers - the preparations at the bride’s house, the groom at home if required (and time allows). If not then the groom and entourage at the ceremony venue beforehand, the bride arriving, discrete shots of the ceremony (if permitted), the signing of the register, the couple leaving, group shots, any ‘must have’ pictures and a private moment with just the couple, the couple at the car, shots at the reception including guests mingling, the cutting of the cake, the speeches, toasts and first dance. We want you to have a complete record of your day. Not an unfinished story.
We live overseas and are returning to the UK for our wedding.
No problem.
Do you travel?
Yes…We are based in Northampton, and work mainly in and around Northamptonshire, although we do photograph weddings throughout the UK and Europe. Please call or email me for a quote.
What kind of cameras do you use?
We shoot with professional Canon cameras and a variety of lenses. This allows more unique and creative photographs.
Do you have backup equipment?
Yes… We have at least one backup for every piece of equipment we use. This is important as you never know when something will fail.
Do you shoot digital or film?
Now we are almost exclusively digital. This allows more flexibility and speeds up the whole process. That way you and your guests get to view your images quicker. This also allows us to create some amazing digital album pages with minimal cost.
Do you shoot colour or black & white?
We shoot in colour but you can choose any image to be converted into black & white or sepia if you would like at no extra cost.
Will we have a Contract?
Yes… We have a simple contract that we ask you to read and sign this ensures there are no misunderstandings.
How do we book you for our wedding date?
To reserve your wedding date, all we require is a deposit of £50 (non-refundable) and a signed contract. Please contact us for more information.
How many pictures do you take during the day?
We deliver at least 150 images, although for a full day's photography it’s more likely to be nearer 300 although there is no real limit. We know other photographers who deliver thousands of images, but we would rather give you quality rather than quantity.
Are you a full-time photographer?
Yes…We take our photography seriously and work hard to make each wedding and album unique, and we feel this is how we have stayed in business for so long.
What happens if it rains on our wedding day?
Unfortunately you might get a bit wet. We will shoot as much as possible at the ceremony as it’s important to cover every part of your wedding but your reception venue should offer plenty of indoor opportunities. We do have portable studio lights to make the best of the situation if the venue is suitable.
Does the photographer require feeding?
It would be appreciated that you provide a hot meal and a drink for the photographer(s) if they are with you all day.
Do you have insurance?
Yes… We have both Professional Indemnity and Liability insurance.
Do you offer an engagement / pre wedding shoot?
Yes… In fact these photo sessions are a great way for us to get to know each other before the wedding day, and if arranged early enough the images could be used on your invitations.
After the wedding, what happens next?
As soon as all the images are ready they will be displayed in the client area on our secure website, in your own password protected online gallery. We can, if required, supply details of the password on the day of your wedding to your guests or you can let your family and friends know your password when you’re ready. We will also provide all proof photographs either in booklet form or on a non printable CD, dependant on your choice.
